Mr. Chaffin's preliminary hearing on those charges was scheduled for today, April 27, 2011. Owing to a prompt and effective pretrial investigation, the Office of Attorney Lance Miller was able to produce evidence that Mr. Chaffin was in Columbus, Georgia on the date the reported crimes were alleged to occur. Produced to the Office of the District Attorney General were cell phone records showing phone calls in southern Georgia, as well as a purchase made in a convenience store in Columbus, Georgia a mere two hours before the alleged crime took place in Clarksville, TN. Columbus is a six and a half hour drive from Clarksville, TN, according to mapquest. Four witnesses appeared on Mr. Chaffin's behalf, prepared to testify that Mr. Chaffin was in Columbus GA on the date alleged in the warrant. Owing to the weight of the evidence presented, the office of the District Attorney General agreed to Mr. Chaffin's release. Mr. Chaffin and numerous members of his family were greatly relieved at his relief.
